Don't Buy- Adopt a bird in need!

Thinking about getting a companion parrot or adding to your existing flock?
Don't buy a bird (adding to the huge overpopulation/homeless pet problem or supporting nasty bird mills), adopt a bird in need!
There are several organizations in the Bay Area that rescue hundreds of parrot-type birds from shelters (that are really only equipped to deal with dogs & cats), vets (where cruel people take them to be euthanized for simple, solvable medical problems or people refuse to pay for treatment & leave them there), and individuals (who for whatever reason can no longer care for their bird). They then educate the public and foster the bird until a quality "forever home" can be found.
Avian rescue is always in need of foster parents, adoptive parents, volunteers, & donations to meet the goal of never turning away a bird in need!
Where to go? The Peninsula Humane Society, Mickaboo, CHRP (based out of Feathered Follies) or Companion Parrot Connection!
On behalf of the birds, thanks!

Best Bird Store in East Bay
The best bird store, hands down is Feathered Follies in Lafayette (3471 Mt. Diablo Blvd.).
They have great supplies, grooming, and a nursery for baby parrots. the place is clean, pristine, and they place adult birds as well.
While I believe in adoption over purchase as a rule, these babies are reared with the bird in mind first- over profit margin.
